ramblings from an internet wolf

metaphors i relate to

i find that i am both what existed before and what was reflected in the words i found. words of those who have never known me.

i know in my heart i could never have brought these things into fruition myself. i am the heir to lives lived by older souls, a lone howl against the symphony of the wind.

i chase songbirds begging to know how they sing. i snap my jaws at their feathers in the night, always falling short of a prize in my flightless vessel.

i erratically tear at my fur with my tooth-filled beak; trying to preen my imperfections like those songbirds do.

though i understand them.

they wrote the words that are now carved into my soul.

against my will or by the will of a merciless god i do not know.

could i have ever written them?

will i ever be like those songbirds?

maybe i'll catch something on my next hunt.
