lingering
it still lingers in the air, the stench of death that refuses to dissipate. the figurative death of something that i once loved. it all still hangs on me, the unrelenting guilt of those hands grabbing desperately at my feet now. i could sever them, i could leave them useless, bloodied, and dismembered upon the ground they belong on. yet i still let them grasp my ankles, and i drag them along to an unknown destination. its mutual, the continuous need to hang on. i want to hold them again, i want to intertwine our desire and walk side by side again. but i cant go back, i wont retrace my steps that i tried to cover. so we stay like this, a tragic display of desperate misery. i won’t let go, i wont watch my wrists split from the arms that still want to embrace. i will hold on, i will trail so desperately just as i hope they do.
