bunny
i killed you.
limp prey clamped between my jaws, i killed you.
the sun sets, rises again, and falls in time with my ever-wavering shallow heart. days pass in slow drawn-out memories, a repetitive torture i started.
i'm still waiting to hear from you. i'm waiting for you to get up. to be born again from the freedom of death. i'm waiting for you, and i want you, to wake up.
yet instinct won.
i wanted to believe you were meaningless. just another bushy-tailed creature to track, to chase, to eat. that you were merely game to hunt.
but these nights pass painfully slow as i watch your corpse unmoving. growing ever colder with each of my shaking breaths.
it sinks deeper into my soul as the maggots and flies start to consume you.
i killed you. a violent and heartless canine sinking its teeth into your trembling body in one final moment of fear.
i believe this is what you wanted. our chase has ended. without this incessant dog tracking your every movement you will flourish into branches tipped with budding leaves.
my friend, my prey, i want to run with you again.
